Along the beach towards Paremata. This is a part of the sand spit whiich provides a route for State Highway 1, the railway and a number of houses
The Inlet is very shallow but it suitable for sailing small boats. In the deeper section there is a water ski club. At the far end, near to Pauatahanui village is an extensive sanctuary for water birds
