April 25 Little Kingshill to Ruislip

When I awoke, it was raining quite hard. This continued over breakfast, with the flat roof over the breakfast room making it sound much worse. Malcolm and Janet went off to their respective tennis commitments convinced that it would brighten up.

Same old story

but some blue sky by lunchtime

They were correct! I stayed at home all morning and worked on the computer and the sun came and went. By the time that I emerged at lunchtime, there was a mixture of blue sky, sunshine and clouds. The walk through Little Kingshill follows the road and is long and straight, through lots of attractive trees.

Over the playing field

and along the alleyway

I then turned across the playing field, along a narrow alleyway and into the Full Moon, a lovely old pub with a good sign.

Beer and scratchings

I had a good pint, a packet of scratchings and then some whitebait, another of the foods on my "must have" list. I chatted to a not very nice posh couple and then to the barman, a nice lad in his twenties, and an older chap, who had been a regular there for 45 years and was quite charming.

I walked home again in the warm sunshine, packed and weighed my bags (still room for shopping in Hong Kong), and watched TV until Malcolm & Janet returned.

The road back home again

When they did, we drove straight off to Ruislip, about a 30 minute journey, having fun with Malcolm's electronic navigation system on the way. Can't say I want one of them myself.

Dinner at Mike & Rosemary's was large and good, as was the conversation. I slept well.
