Fergus of Ruislip

A good night's sleep and I awoke to a bright sunny morning. Before breakfast we took Fergus for a walk through the local park, passing the restored house and the lake. Everything was neat and tidy and extremely nice for a London suburb - albeit quite a posh one.

and again

On the High Street, Rosemary bought some croissants, some for us and one for Fergus. He ate lumps of his as we walked round. The High Street was reasonably busy with people out buying their morning papers, bread and so on, but the roads were quiet.

We breakfasted on the patio in the sunshine, after which Mike loaded me into the car & drove me to one of the local tube stations for my trip into London.

I walked passed the Cambridge Theatre, with its eye catching advert for "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" which is showing there, and then on to De Hems, where I met the others.

The first news was bad - that our usual restaurant was closed for refurbishment - but we had some nice Belgian beers to help lessen the blow.

We then emerged onto Gerrard Street, selected a restaurant at random, and sat down for a large meal.

Large meal to start

but not much left

By the end, we had made a fair dent in it and staggered out of the restaurant hoping to find some exercise on the walk to the various tube stations. Anne & I took the long route to Oxford Circus, via Marks & Spenser to buy some food for breakfast, and caught a very crowded train home.

When we arrived in Newbury Park, the sun was still shining so we had a quick wander round the garden before collapsing inside.
