April 15 Nettlecombe to Leicester

An almost blue sky
|
but misty across the fields

Dull again. Another excellent breakfast, during which the sun attempted
to shine - but then gave up the effort. Check out was quick and easy and,
given the normal prices in the area, very cheap.
I negotiated the lanes, stopping to take a few photos on this occasion,
called in to my Aunt's for coffee and met a number of her friends who were
there on a similar mission. Having said my farewells, I climbed into the
car and pointed it to the North East, in which direction it continued for
several hours. It remained misty throughout.

Lunchtime layby
|
I took a few photos, stopped for petrol and then, in a lay by, for lunch
and gradually progressed up the country.
There were many pretty places where I could have stopped but the needs
of the journey were paramount and I continued on my way for about five
hours until I arrived safely at Cliff & Hilary's.
There, I found a small amount of sun, which generated some warmth but then
vanished again. We had a relax and them prepared for the mile walk down
the hill to the local Indian restaurant. Immediately outside the front
door, the sun appeared again. I took a photo of this strange yellow apparition
but am sure that it will only register as an area of burnt out photograph.
The walk downhill offers good views across the Soar Valley and about 25
minutes after setting out, we arrived at the restaurant. We had a good meal and
staggered up the hill home again, dodged a few spots of rain and
collapsed in armchairs.
