April 16 Leicester to Dronfield

Leicester in the gloom

Even worse to the East
|
Even more dullness and dampness which got steadily worse as we drove East.
Target one was Ashby Folville, not particularly photogenic but the location
of Cliff's walk next week. We were seeking to locate a parking place for
him as the pub car park had been deemed out of bounds. The pub, itself,
looked OK but other parks were few and far between. The church was large
and the cricket ground quite pretty.

Hot soup for a cold day
|
After lots more lanes, we reached the garden centre at Cold Overton. This
was huge, looked like a factory from the outside and offered lots of interesting
photo opportunities. It also had a good café, where the soup seemed the
best option for a day that was becoming increasingly chilly.

Artistic garden stuff
|
We filled the boot with sacks of compost and drove home again. My lifting
skills were required at both ends.
The remainder of the day involved a 90 minute drive along fairly busy motorways
and main roads, all in dull drizzle. I reached Tina's on schedule and we
drove into Dronfield for an exceedingly good curry.
