Mar 1 Dunedin
It rained hard most of the night, so everything was waterlogged in the
morning. Leaving Charlie in bed, Pete & I drove to the market and joined
the crowds. I stocked up with enough Evansdale cheese to last for a month
and bought a sausage in the bun from the Eurodog van.

We left Charlie in bed

and headed for the cheese stall

There were large puddles in the marketplace but lots of fruit & vegetables
to buy and to photograph. Even in such unpleasant weather, the market was
busy and it seems to be a social gathering place as much as a place to
shop. The return home took us via the whisky shop, which probably has the
best stocks in the country. I made some enquiries and was told that malt
whisky prices were about to rise by 40%. Lucky I dont drink it.

Puddles everywhere

but still lots of people

Once home,
I did a little work and settled down for a quiet lunch and an early afternoon
dodging the gathering gloom outside. The Regent Theatre was hosting a sale
of records, CDs, tapes, sheet music etc etc, which we decided would make
good wet weather entertainment. I acquired a couple of cassettes for the
princely sum of $1, both of which seem to be in good working order. On
the way home we stopped off at the whisky shop again and I bought a couple
of bottles for a friend in Wellington. With the rain not easing at all,
we stayed at home until going out to an Italian restaurant for dinner.
