Dec 22
Wimbledon

I had a reasonable sleep but woke early and had to stay quiet until the rest of the household appeared. Then I got up and re-packed my bags.

Outside it was thawing so the lawn was appearing and the streets weren't too bad with just a little ice hiding on the pavements to trap the unwary.

We set off for Wimbledon on foot, about a fifteen minute journey, with a number of missions to accomplish. We joined the smallish crowds, visited a number of shops, met limited queues, received excellent service throughout and achieved all of our aims. We then piled into a Wetherspoons Pub for a good lunch and, in my case, a couple of glasses of Shropshire beer. It was excellent & a surprise to find it in London.

Once home again, we spent the afternoon working, relaxing, packing etc etc.

In the evening, the four of us walked for about ten minutes into Wimbledon, had a good (not cheap) Italian meal and walked home again. The temperature had dropped considerably so that hats, coats and gloves were the order of the evening.

Right: Wimbledon - lots of cars but fewer people
