May 1 Little Kingshill

A quiet day. Reasonably sunny in the morning & then becoming quite hot in the afternoon. I worked at home until mid morning & then drove down to Bourne End for coffee at my own house. Everything there was in good order & Bruce & I were able to sit in the garden to drink our coffees and chat.

From there, I drove through some of the more exclusive villages, stopping at Holyport to take a photo on the beautiful village green. Next stop was outside New Lodge, where I once worked, and which is a quite amazing Victorian house/castle.

New Lodge, Winkfield

Winkfield is a few miles further along the narrow but busy lanes & I met Nick there for a very substantial lunch, my steak and kidney pudding being worthy of a photograph.

St Mary the Virgin, Winkfield

The church opposite the pub has been restored quite recently & the tower looked good in the sunshine.

The journey home was confused in that I got lost several times, drove round High Wycombe a few times in search of petrol and finally got rid of the car quite late in the afternoon.

This left a few minutes for the unsuccessful search for a pair of gloves, before I walked along the busy West Wycombe Road to meet Malcolm at the Dr's surgery where he was going to collect me. We tried to stop at the Full Moon on the way home but it didn't open until 6 pm so we had to remain dry until we reached the Mandarin Duck for dinner.
