Another dull and wet morning so we spent it in the house, Kathryn cooking, Jerry working on cricket umpiring paperwork and I typing up my holiday diary.

In the late afternoon, Jerry's brother arrived and we went next door to feed their ducks. We then drove the short distance into Watlington and did the 2 mile guided walk around the town.

There are some excellent old buildings featuring varying types of brickwork, cruck construction, thatch and so on.

The weather didn't improve and was dull and damp throughout. The blossom, though, was magnificent.

After an hour and a half, we settled into the Carrier's Arms for a couple of beers - my first of the holiday - and both pork scratchings and crisps, also my first of the trip. All very bad for my health but who cares!

We had dinner at home in the evening in front of a roaring log fire.
