The jetty to which the boat is tied used to be the base for a small passenger ferry which crossed the Cook Strait to Picton on the South Island. The ferry was too small and the harbour too shallow to offer a reliable service, and the operation went bankrupt.
Mana Marina has developed over about 20 years & is now full of pleasure boats of all shapes and sizes. It is always busy and has a well stocked and managed Clubhouse.
